Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member It was okay. It was better than a Dangerous Method. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Bella película. Convencional en su narración. Buena temática. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is so powerful, it's at times painful and awkward to watch, mainly due to the magnificent and multi-vallent acting of Emilia Fox. I've never heard of this actress before, but she undergoes a tremendous transformation in this film from the troubled "mad" young girl, sexually and psychologically oppressed by early 20th century Europe/Russia, to astute vixen, to nurturing and powerful writer, mother, and teacher. It was interesting to see a characterization of Jung and the movie did a superb job of revealing how Sabina emotionally and psychologically influenced him, which is more interesting I believe than how she influenced his writings and practices. That you can research on your own, no? I feel like the backstory with the two young 21st century researchers tied the movie together; without them, it would've been just another period piece and could've gotten tedious at times. This way, Sabina's life was revealed by means of a diary in possession of the modern-day character. And like everything in history, all we have is pieces, pages here and there. Although Sabina's story in the movie ended quite abruptly and tragically, it reflected well how her life ended. Nobody knows when their final day has come. Sabina lived in a violent time and died a truly brutal death much too early, like many Russian and Eastern European Jews--writers, analysts, musicians, artists, and people who spoke their mind. The movie reveals Sabina as a woman with an extraordinary spirit, sadly forgotten by history, and truly worth of remembrance.
