After an extremist militant group threatens their lives, a young couple (Ryan Phillippe and Mena Suvari) is forced to flee their Christian missionary post in the Kalahari Desert. After being granted passage aboard a rickety plane, piloted by a corrupt smuggler (Emile Hirsch), their escape to safety is nearly in reach. But when their aircraft loses power and crash lands, they discover a bigger threat awaits them as they find themselves stranded in the middle of an animal preserve populated by man-eaters -- lions, leopards, and hyenas. Injured, frightened, and being tracked by the extremists, this ragtag group of passengers must fight for survival from both man and beast where only the strong will survive.

There’s always something mildly repulsive about narratives that credit God for a protagonist’s survival but apportion no blame to Him for putting them into that scrape in the first instance, and it’s even worse when the film itself is a stinker.

The best thing about this low-budget B thriller is its beautiful African nature footage, which seems to have come from a stock footage library. The human part of the story goes quickly and permanently off the rails.

What? I feel like there were many missing scenes. Where happened to the terrorist's jeep? Why didn't they take the terrorist's guns. Just no logic at all. Male lions hunting together? 🤯

Everything about this film was frustrating. Every decision the main characters chose made absolutely no sense. I felt like I was watching that geico commercial where the characters hide from the serial killer behind the chain saws. Ugh.

What in the 2024? This was offensive on every level. Slow, made no sense. Characters flat and entirely unlikeable. Main character is stuck in a broken craft in the open savannah and makes no effort to defend or barricade themself and injured partner. I won’t even get into the treatment of 'Africa'. Laughable. Truly.

Synopsis
