After an extremist militant group threatens their lives, a young couple (Ryan Phillippe and Mena Suvari) is forced to flee their Christian missionary post in the Kalahari Desert. After being granted passage aboard a rickety plane, piloted by a corrupt smuggler (Emile Hirsch), their escape to safety is nearly in reach. But when their aircraft loses power and crash lands, they discover a bigger threat awaits them as they find themselves stranded in the middle of an animal preserve populated by man-eaters -- lions, leopards, and hyenas. Injured, frightened, and being tracked by the extremists, this ragtag group of passengers must fight for survival from both man and beast where only the strong will survive.

Wow…. This movie had SO much potential this was extremely disappointing. The amount of epic scenes they had the opportunity to do with this story line, why??? Why wasn't this movie great ? This irritates me because I can write all these amazing scenes with this same plot in my head and this movie could have been one of the best. But nope ! It's horrible acting, literally zero action shots. Zero gore or terror. The most we got was a gun shot to a head but why would we leave out the lion attacks, dragging people off, maybe an epic lion chase where they hide. Maybe cross a river filled with crocodiles and hippos to escape lions. Maybe show more character storylines. OMGG I can't. Don't waste your time watching this I know I wasted $7 to rent this nonsense with high hopes

"Prey" fails to transcend its low-budget constraints, relying heavily on stock footage and lackluster performances. Despite attempts to focus on the story, the film falls into predictable tropes, with dialogue so cheesy it feels like a middle schooler's dramatic essay brought to life. From start to finish, "Prey" offers little in the way of originality, making it a forgettable addition to the thriller genre.

The best thing about this low-budget B thriller is its beautiful African nature footage, which seems to have come from a stock footage library. The human part of the story goes quickly and permanently off the rails.
