      Critics Consensus

Formulaic in its plotting and cliched in its dialogue, Pride and Glory does little to distinguish itself from other police procedurals. Read critic reviews

A film full of such talent shouldn't this misguided or boring. The plot is quite all over the place and you can't really bond with any characters because we have no depth to help us. Norton is really good in the lead but when the film is this dull why would you even try. A film trying to be so deep and interesting needed much more focus on the screenwriting and story. The real issue is the film wastes to much time on support characters instead of trying to create depth for the central characters. The film is way to dark and uninteresting and fails quite badly. The director is out of depth on this poorly made drama Ed norton is a great character actor and even he can't create anything of interest. Farrell is to bland and boring which is shame as both him and norton deserves better. The film could of been interesting had it not been so drawn out and uneventful. This is one film that had potential written all over it but sadly it dies a quick death

A good cop drama about a family in the force, thrown into an awkward position when a case exposes some dirty cops from their precinct. A very enjoyable film, with a well assembled cast. Might be a little confusing at the start as to who is bad and who isn't though. It doesn't have a great deal of action but it's still a good story well told.

<i>"We sold our shields off to the highest bidder."</i><p> <i>Pride and Glory</i> focuses more on it's drama than on the thrills, which should disapoint some audiences. However, this is tense as ever, with some outstanding performances. <u> SUMMARY: </u><p> Ex Cop Francis Tierney (Jon Voight) is the head of a multigenerational police family, which includes his sons Franny (Noah Emmerich), Ray (Edward Norton), and his son-in-law Jimmy Egan (Colin Farrell) all being policemen. When four of Franny's men are killed overnight during a shootout, everything just seems ordinary. But when Ray is assigned to the investigation, he discovers something very sinister about this tragedy and people he loves are involved. <u> REVIEW: </u><p> The script is excellent- I think it's well-written. I didn't think of the dialogue, it wasn't that great. I thought these characters were interesting. Francis was such an interesting character, he was a great father role with his love for his family - how he wants to keep them safe and that he would bend the rules to do that. Ray was a very likeable hero, and Franny was a great character. The twists aren't predictable, I never saw them coming. The cast was fantastic. Edard Norton was the winning actor here, he was very charismatic. Jon Voight was excellent playing the caring father. Colin Farrell was very impressive playing so many sides of Jimmy, even the dark ones. Noah Emmerich? I didn't think he was all that great. But, overall, most of the performances were wonderful. Like I said before, this film focuses a lot on it's drama. The dramatic feel really comes the family of cops. There's a lot to do with corruption, and I think the drama here is excellent. It's well written and the performances really do feel convincing. This is actually a really dramatic film. The problem for me was that the twists came really early, and after we find out about the twists - the film just seemed to frag for a while, I just thought that it wasn't getting anywhere. Also, I didn't think much of the camera operation. It felt really clunky, and there were a little action scenes, and they weren't shot very well. I enjoyed this, I thought it was decent crime thriller. It's tense and very entertaing. It is kinda long, considering how slow it is at parts, and sometimes it does get confusing, but it's clever thriller that is completely original. <div style="width:408px;"><a href="http://www.flixster.com/photos/edward-norton-pride-and-glory-10341390"><img src="http://content8.flixster.com/photo/10/34/13/10341390_gal.jpg" border="0"/></a><div style="text-align:center;font-size:10px;">

Gripping, intense film regarding a family of police officers(father, two sons, and son in law) who deal with corruption in their precinct in Washington Heights, NYC. Edward Norton turns in yet another brilliant performance in this somewhat dark film about the dubious brother in law's involvement in an incendiary case, and what is actually going on in the precinct which is primarily held together by this family whose moral codes are tested to the utmost. Do their loyalties belong to the department, or to each other?
