Kate Stables Sight & Sound Guzikowski's well-honed thriller occasionally idles under Villeneuve's dark character studies, but the director's powerfully imposed mood of dread elevates what might otherwise have been just a superior police procedural. Jul 31, 2018 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire An increasingly sloppy thriller, filled with obvious clues, laughable red herrings, and halfhearted "shock" reveals, played at a snail's pace that lets far too much air into the narrative. The process, the content, and the journey are profoundly immersive. rhi b joey wondered where the children went, he was confused but like it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review Angelo C I thought the film was so good until the end. Now he does hear the whistle so his relentless he will find the district distraught father. But why not a definite ending for the audience? Instead of a silly ploy for the audience to figure it out….we did that for most of the movie already! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review Birithivy Y Prisoners - 10/10. Denis Villeneuve debuted into Hollywood with this terrifically intense crime drama. Shot incredibly by the legend Roger Deakins and with superb performances from Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Terrence Howard, and Melissa Leo, Prisoners is an excellent thriller which follows both the victim's and police's storylines. Its quite an intense and raw film, and really plays up the tension and intensity of the story. Its an incredible film, which helped launch the career of Villeneuve and catapult him to the upper echelons of directing talent. Whats great about Prisoners is that it doesn't shy away from the hardships that a kidnapped child's parents' would go through. Jackman plays the role of a distraught father on a mission to find his child extremely well. This is by far his best performance of his career. His rage is real and you can feel he put a lot of energy into this character. Gyllenhaal as the cop gives a really underrated performance in this film, and Leo gives a really good and creepy performance. But by far the best aspect of this film is Deakins's cinematography. How he captures the cold and dark nature of the story really shows the legend's mindset in terms of filming sequences. This film is probably my fave Villeneuve film, and one that deserves more attention than his other work in my opinion. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/05/24 Full Review Dionisis T Movies like this one show how underappreciated some actors are! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/24 Full Review gingmiin T God forgive me i dont know who i am anymore Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/22/24 Full Review Muhammed a It was a good and quality movie, but I never liked the father of the missing girl. He was exaggerating a lot and was very impatient. He made everyone suffer and torture for no reason. Apart from that, the detective was a good detective and the movie was a good and quality movie as a thriller and detective movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
