Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Prodigy” still manages to be a thoughtful and suspenseful thriller and does so despite its small scale and even smaller budget. I mean practically the entire film takes place in two rooms. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 24, 2022 Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror As a horror movie, Prodigy isn't particularly frightening, but as a character study it nails the vibe, the seesaw between admitting what Ellie is and desperately wanting her to resist her darker urges. Rated: 7/10 Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Drew Tinnin Dread Central Good performances, sure-handed directing, and a solid script highlighting tense moments make the claustrophobic setting seem much bigger in scope. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 24, 2019 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net A clever scifi thriller with 2 good performances Rated: 7/10 Jun 16, 2019 Full Review Bill Watters Bleeding Cool Prodigy winds up being one of those rare indie thrillers which succeeds through solid writing and a great central performance. Rated: 7/10 Dec 19, 2018 Full Review Adam Patterson Film Pulse An entertaining, albeit flawed, affair about a broken man interviewing a prodigious child with demons of her own. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/23 Full Review Jeffrey P Fully captivating in some parts, something else entirely different in others. The examination of the prodigy made it, everything else lessened it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review Marguerite A I really enjoyed this movie. No big actors that I recognized but everyone was very good. A great thriller/horror movie without the blood and guts. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Richard Neil's performance makes this movie worth watching. His empathy, pain and understanding of the young protagonist are all palpable, raw and believable. Savannah Halliday's performance is not bad and the interplay with Richard Neil is attention grabbing, but her performance is contrived, I never got past the sense that she was a good actress in a less than ideal role for her skillset, i.e., I couldn't see past the acting to believing in the character. I kept thinking during her scenes that Talitha Bateman would have been much more natural in this particular role. The remaining cast was average in their performances whether due to poor direction, poor dialogue or miscasting. For example, I did not particularly think the character's of Birch and Werner were believable at all. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member It is like a Matilda but on a drama version, loved the acting. Story is cliche, however, the movie dialogues and the possibilities on how the it would end kept me watching Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie was quite good. The chemistry between the psychologist and child was excellent. Well acted and a tight script. No filler, no fluff. Just gives us what we need without feeling like it needs to bog us down in unneeded details. Anyone who does not rate this movie fresh is just nit picky and contrarian. There is no possible way to walk away from this movie and not say you were entertained. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
