Lynzee Loveridge Anime News Network By and large though, Project A-ko is a sci-fi comedy full of impressive action set pieces, mechanical designs, and physical humor that surprisingly still holds up over 30 years later. Eight R The queen of anime parody movies, its basically everything about 70's and 80's anime bottled up into one ridiculous farce, but is still watchable even if you aren't familiar with the trope. Way ahead of its time in properly embracing the wacky side LGBTQ+ cinema without feeling exploitative or too inappropriate. If you are new to anime and are looking for quality older titles that stand the test of time and have fantastic hand drawn animation, this movie is one of the first I would recommend. 4.5/5 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review cees t Nicely drawn but not very original or complex. More of a parody/showcase. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Ridiculous and brilliant! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member An amazingly fun anime that may be one of the most ridiculous things anyone could see in anime at least. It was one my first anime films growing up. A hilarious film about a super strong and fast teenager: A-Ko that has to save Japan from an alien invasion while fighting robots in her private school on a daily basis. She is put in the middle of a random wierd love triangle by an entitled rich girl: B-ko for the attention and affection of A-KO's cry baby best friend C-KO. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member This 1986 film might seem a bit slow to modern audiences, but it's subtle humor and parody, along with some exciting action scenes, make it, for me anyway, still quite entertaining. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Project A-Ko. Loved it 20 years ago and its still as brilliant today. Pure anime madness... Schoolgirl lesbians fighting over each other in total DBZ style, with crazy comedy, sci-fi action and absurd high school antics that will keep you smiling!! Love it!!
