Audience Member It's not about bears, it's about the man, and it's funny - although you're not always clear whether you're laughing with him exaggerating for the entertainment of his mates, or if he believes all his own stories. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member So we have lots of build up and no conclusion. Lynch who is a great documentary producer lets his subject off the hook. Doesn't the idea of developing a suit to ward off grizzlies require testing against actual grizzlies? A film that leaves you hanging. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Curiousity after watching "Grizzly Man" made me see this. This guy is a freak and a few cards short of a full deck, but ultimately the movie is a letdown because he never goes toe to toe with a bear. Can't remommened this unless you find people with mental issues entertaining. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member The idea of a man trying to build a bear-proof suit of armor sounds awesome, but really you'd be better off just checking for highlights on youtube. Even at 72 minutes this gets boring, although at least Hurtubise seems to be in on the joke and the film is less condescending than some "outsider" documentaries can be. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary by Peter Lynch is about an obsessed man, Troy Hurtubise, as he wants to come face-to-face with a bear. Troy spents years and thousands of dollars on creating a bear-attack-proof suit. There are some "Jack-ass"-esque moments where we see Troy hit my a truck, giant logs, and attacked by a biker gang. Ultimately though we never see him take on the bear. It was fun watching him "test" his suit, but there was so much buildup of a man vs. bear main event that I was disappointed when it never happened. There's also plenty of downtime where Troy talks about irrelevant things. A somewhat gratifying ending as Troy comes across what he thinks is the bear he encountered in his past. Of course this is from a safe distance and without the bear suit. This documentary had some real potential but ultimately I was disappointed. 2/5 stars. (4/12/10) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member You can't help but admire Troy Hurtubise's passion, even if you can't help laughing at his methods Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
