At 2½ hours plus, it also has its longueurs but there are some spectacularly beautiful moments and Gosling makes an engaging companion who makes something poignant as well as funny out of Grace’s unwelcome elevation to hero status.

It was a fun movie with an interesting storyline. The special effects were top tier. I hold a 5th star for truly stellar movies (Lord of the Rings ilk). My wife said it was fairly true to the book. I will watch it again once it is on DVD.
