What to Know

Critics Consensus

Project Wolf Hunting's slight story takes a back seat to all the action -- and for fans of all-out cinematic mayhem, that's exactly as it should be.

Wendy Ide Observer (UK) The inventively relentless action is rather let down by a screenplay that is leakier than a minor supporting character after one of the many stab rampages. Rated: 2/5 Mar 5, 2023 Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian If you had a pound for every slashed jugular and staved-in cranium in this Korean horror-thriller, you would probably have more than the film’s entire budget. Rated: 4/5 Jan 24, 2023 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com [A] by-the-numbers body count flick that too often looks like an overproduced video game. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 7, 2022 Full Review Shakyl Lambert CGMagazine Overall, I had a fun time with Project Wolf Hunting. It really feels as if Mr. X from the Resident Evil 2 Remake got dropped in the middle of a game of Call of Duty and just ran wild with it. Rated: 7.5/10 Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Ygraine Hackett-Cantabrana The Geek Show (UK) Project Wolf Hunting is a thoroughly entertaining gore-fest, ideal for fans of the extreme and continues the tradition of South Korea being a shining beacon of horror and violent thrillers. Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Joonatan Itkonen Toisto.net Even at its most opulent, Project Wolf Hunting is nothing short of thrilling. It’s rare for an action film to surprise anymore, and I’d be lying if I said that I could tell where Hong-sun’s epic would go at any given minute. Rated: 5/5 Jul 3, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Annette Z Movie was amazing, so intense, has you on the edge of your seat the entire time Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/22 Full Review Norm V. Wow! Action thriller and horror in one plus science fiction Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/22 Full Review Aurian O As much as I love movies, I quite enjoyed this one. It's great if you want a slightly cheesy Korean horror movie. Unfortunately quite a few things happened that made me not like the movie, but the one thing that really made me be thrown off was when Lee Da-yeon was brutally killed off. You root for her, Do-li, and the other 2 from the get-go. However, she is simply killed off before getting to safety. Another thing was the "dead" (I say dead because everyone else was presumed death except Do-li was alive) bodies are fed to pigs, bodies that were pumped full of chemicals that give superpowers, being fed to animals that you have no idea if they'll get those powers. The "monster" / Alpha having a regenerative of sorts ability (shown when he pulls the bullet out of his body, it stops bleeding and sorta looks like it's healing) however then being killed off. His arm stops bleeding after the detective bits / slices it off. Do-li also having stopped bleeding, even though he was partially stabbed, when Alpha had sliced at him. Not much to be said about regenerative, but they do all show at least some sort of ability to stop bleeding. This leads me to the climax of the movie, Alpha simply doesn't stop bleeding? But some how Do-li, who survives until the end of the film, stops bleeding. I do hope this movie gets a sequel as I want to see the continuation of Do-li's story and if he gets his son back. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/10/24 Full Review Lubo A This movie is a cautionary tale of how it's not enough the have a good concept, you need plot and payoff. The majority of the runtime is dedicated to disgusting dismemberment and brutality, with badly done fake blood literally pouring everywhere. Nothing gets resolved and there is nobody to root for. There are only a few characters that get to say more than a few lines and before you can even think if you should be interested in them, they are killed in the most messy and gruesome way possible. For a bit, it looks like maybe the female detective (Jung So-Min) will have some arc or role to play, but she gets murdered before long - mercifully by being shot. Honestly, they should have killed the last survivor too - I couldn't care less about him. This movie is a waste of potential and a waste of your time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/09/24 Full Review Craig B Project: Wolf Hunting is one bonkers movie. Loads of ridiculous fun.. gory as all hell! A must watch for anyone who likes an unbridled and over the top entertaining action / horror gore-fest. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Jonah K no matter the size, shape or severity of the wound, gallons and gallons of blood will instantly be spewing out of it. unfortunately, not much is done to make this ultraviolence, or the characters surrounding it, engaging for the entire two hour runtime. after the first 30 minutes, the film just seems to repeat its methods of murder over and over again.
