Young Katarina (Alicia Vikander) hates her job and worries that she may end up like her mother, Birgitta (Josephine Bauer), who is drinking herself to death. Finding her only solace in music, Katarina talks her way into a job as a receptionist in the offices of the Gothenburg Symphony. Although she lives with her layabout boyfriend, Mattias (Martin Wallström), she nonetheless finds herself entering into an affair with the symphony's conductor, the married and much older Adam (Samuel Fröler).

Jerod S Vikander is the daughter of a drunk mom, but a hustler. She lucks her way into a job at the orchestra as a receptionist and falls for the conductor.
