Matthew B While it has a couple entertaining moments here and there, Quarantine 2 is ultimately a highly disappointing sequel that throws away all that was good with the first film and its Spanish source material. The idea of a rabies-like virus outbreak taking place in an airport could have been an amazing opportunity to explore rarely covered territory within the zombie genre, but Quarantine 2 instead chooses to take the easy road and not take any real chances. We've all had discussions about the zombie apocalypse... what would you do? Where would you go? Where would you NOT want to go under ANY circumstances? I'm willing to bet the airport has come up in this discussion as a place that you would absolutely want to avoid. Along with places like the mall, the hospital, really anywhere that has tons of supplies other people would want, thus subsequently tons of people being infected and turning. Unlike the mall and the hospital though, the airport is a location that hasn't had a proper visit within zombie movies. The only thing that comes to mind is Dead Air in the first Left 4 Dead, but that's a video game. So the movie has a real opportunity here to create something unique, a real panic driven atmosphere... hordes of people trying to flee the infection on planes only to be met with the very same fate they were trying to avoid. Our protagonists would have to figure out how to not only get out of this situation, but where to go after their last option had been exhausted. Maybe even HUNDREDS of people who had fled to the airport being quarantined, and panic ensues as everyone tries to discern who's infected and who isn't? Sounds interesting right? That would have taken too much effort on behalf of the filmmakers. Instead we're given a very boring story set in a quarantined airport that's ALREADY CLOSED and thus has no people in it, as our small group of survivors huddle together and try to make sense of such a dire situation. Being trapped in an enclosed area could have been interesting, after all it worked just fine in movies like this films predecessor (the first quarantine), its source material "REC", both the original Dawn of the Dead and its reboot, Rammbock: Berlin Undead, The Night Eats The World, #Alive and its American sibling "Alone", What We Become, or any other number of zombie movies with that premise... difference between this movie and those movies is those movies actually have ATMOSPHERE, likeable characters that you CARE about, and a real sense of urgency. Not to mention they completely throw away the mystery of the doomsday cult from the first movie, and have one of the leaders of the cult appear and explain his motives to us as if we are mentally handicapped. This movie is highly disappointing and serves no purpose other than to collect what little money it made when it was originally in theatres. Not recommended. Watch REC or the FIRST Quarantine instead. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/08/24 Full Review Oaklee D As far as straight to DVD horror sequels go, this could of been a whole lot worse. Nowhere near as good as the first film and definitely showing its smaller budget, this film does have it's moments. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review John C In case you didn’t know, ‘Quarantine 2: The Terminal’ is the sequel to a movie (Quarantine, oddly enough) which was, in itself, a remake of (an excellent) Spanish horror film, ‘REC.’ Both REC and the first Quarantine movie were primarily known for being shot entirely through the use of handheld/first-person video footage. However, in the sequel, they do away with the ‘point of view’ aspect for the most part and what you’re left with is a pretty standard zombie movie. And the zombies are the ‘infected’ type (if you haven’t seen 28 Days/Weeks Later that means they run and are generally a lot faster) as opposed to the classic ‘shuffler’ zombies. So, a flight is grounded in a terminal and the plane’s passengers have to survive inside a terminal while zombies pick them off one by one. As a standard zombie movie it does the job. It has a few moments where the (fast) zombies jump out and grab someone. However, it’s never more than average. You’ll find it hard to recognise any actor and the characters are also the standard cliched types you’d expect from a straight-to-DVD release. If you’re not completely tired with zombie movies, you might like this one, otherwise, stick with an early George Romero movie or the Walking Dead. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/27/24 Full Review Lucas t I mean, atleast it was gory. 3.7/10. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/29/24 Full Review Kauã M Just the fact that this film is not a just a american copy of "REC 2" is already a good point, even though the film is full of clichés and generic and predictable events, it manages to bring some situations different from the usual even if unfortunately that is not enough to make it a good film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review Audience Member The follow-up to the 2008 found footage remake Director John Pocus takes the premise to new heights so to speak During an airplane flight two flight attendants are assigned to the latest takeoff Unfortunately it's only a matter of time before the rabies infection that took place in the Los Angeles apartment building starts taking hold of one of the passengers The flight is forced to land and CDC measures are put in place by the authorities trapping everyone inside But each of them start falling victim to a newly infected person even when they try to escape through the airport terminal This one is less found footage and more like a traditional film style of storytelling The first movie was making you feel trapped in a building full of residents while this one deals with the threat of a disease There's also more philosophical debates here about whether Earth deserves to continue to be ravaged and consumed or to let a plague be the answer to wipe the slate clean A thin premise for sure but it's effective when it comes to the scares No big stars here and a limited budget Yet Pocus makes good use of the material keeping this series fresh and downright creepy Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
