Right out of the gate this film was going to be either a hard sell or one with very limited (read: geriatric) appeal, and neither is a immediate recommendation, a ringing endorsement. The script, a surprise diamond with many facets, rightly recognizes this by having the lead character struggle against the set-up, leading us gently into a story about an elderly woman who reluctantly goes to a retirement home. Doesn't sound like much put that way but the stellar cast lean into the story, and the director is savvy enough to let his players play. The result is an intelligent entertainment that respects it's audience and it's cast. Everybody gets, and gives, butter. Well done.
