Danilo (Joseph Long) and Rosa (Anita Zagaria) are lovebirds determined to thwart the arranged marriage Rosa's mother (Eileen Way) has planned for her. They sneak out of their tiny Italian village and years later find themselves living in London with their children and, ironically, Rosa's mother. The family's fortunes are mixed: Danilo heeds the advice of a talking pig and wins enough money at cards to start a coffee shop, only to then watch it gradually fall into decline.

Audience Member ***Due to the recent RT changes that have basically ruined my past reviews, I am mostly only giving a rating rather than a full review.*** Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Life is a gamble, but the thing worth fighting for is family. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Amiel's family saga is alternately funny and touching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Liberally laced as it is with magic, comically surrealist visions and tarot card counsel, the affectionately observed story of the Italian immigrant Lucca clan is the mundane made marvelous.
