In Quiz Lady, a brilliant but tightly wound, gameshow-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina), and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Sandra Oh), must work together to help cover their mother's gambling debts. Starts well with the engaging portrayal of two Chinese American disfunctional sisters, one of whom is a quiz genius. But the last half hour follows a rather more predictable path with the usual American happy ending.

Absolutely hilarious. The halucination scene had me in tears of laughter. The contrasting two leads play off each other to perfection. A must watch. You'll have fun. Everyone knows a Jenny.

It's right to say this is uneven. Some of the jokes don't land. But, and this is a big but, Awkwafina and the wonderful Sandra Oh are delicious as the two sisters trying to raise money to pay off a debt. The chemistry is superb and really makes the film worth watching.

This conventional comedy rides on the strength of its 2 excellent protagonists, Akwafina and Sandra Oh, and some competent supporting cast, led by Will Ferrell (except for the obnoxious part of one of the quiz shows contestants - just too over the top). Definitely worth a watch!
