Darcy (Dev Patel) and Daphne (Rosy McEwen) Davenport are freshly decamped from London and taking up residence in an isolated cottage deep in the Welsh countryside in search of creative renewal and acoustic inspiration. When the couple set about exploring their new environs, recording instruments in tow, Darcy stumbles upon a "faerie circle" that emits a strange, unidentifiable frequency; this odd discovery is followed closely by the appearance of an otherworldly child (Jade Croot) who claims to live nearby and is eager to befriend the Davenports. Soon the child becomes a fixture in their household, alternately ingratiating himself and raising suspicions, and exposing unacknowledged rifts and unexamined secrets that threaten to wreak psychological and spiritual havoc in the lives of his makeshift adoptive parents.

Brandon Yu New York Times There’s so little substance underlying the suspense that when you finally get your “aha” answers, you’re left wondering why you came into the woods in the first place. Sep 11, 2025 Full Review William Repass Slant Magazine It’s when the film plays in the gaps between sound and image that it’s most disturbing. Rated: 3/4 Sep 9, 2025 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Variety Coasts on its interpretability alone. Feb 3, 2025 Full Review Dustin Chang Floating World Verging on magic realism, the moss and fungus invading the interior of the cottage as Davenports are put under the spell of the child is truly a wonder (thanks to production designer Lucie Red). Patel and McEwen have terrific chemistry together. Oct 29, 2025 Full Review Nicholas Bell Fish Jelly Films (YouTube) Reconciliation leads to ambiguous transformation in arthouse folk horror Rabbit Trap, which is ultimately too speculative to generate the emotional terror which could have better sustained its glacial pacing. Norm V Very dry horror that is hard to understand. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/17/25 Full Review Will Definitely an interesting vibes movie, but kinda fell apart at the end. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/17/25 Full Review christine i Very strange story. But the acting was great. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/12/25 Full Review prawnda s it's quite good until the third act, where a lot of cheap props and set pieces that look straight out of an escape room kind of ruin the atmosphere. i cant believe how redundant it was when the rest of the movie was very good about gradual pacing. with a good 20-30 minutes removed, it would be a really nice little story about the fae. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/21/25 Full Review A.L.Jude P No clue when it started and how it ended. Movies has to be made just to show some domestic Travel ? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/15/25 Full Review Rosie C A good slow burn folk horror. Atmospheric and thoughtful. An especially good turn by Jade Croot who's performance lent a perfect melancholy to the film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/13/25 Full Review Read all reviews
