Noel Murray The Dissolve As is often the case in the Bava-verse, Kidnapped turns out to be located at the intersection of every dime-paperback plot, in that wild space populated by crooks, vampires, astronauts, and cowboys, all tromping inexorably to The End. Rated: 4/5 Jul 16, 2013 Full Review Ed Gonzalez Slant Magazine Quite cynically, Bava evokes a human society where no one is to be trusted. Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 14, 2003 Full Review Michelle Devereaux The Skinny Its stripped-down malevolence is certainly effective, and the maniacal performances provide the kitsch. Anderson Combustible Celluloid Definitely one of Bava's more pessimistic films, but it shows just how far the master was capable of stretching into a more realistic, less expressionistic palate. Audience Member Sweaty, nasty, and graphically violent, this atmospheric thriller benefits greatly from tight editing and a compelling score. Twist ending is surprisingly satisfying. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty gripping and gritty little kidnapping film from Mario Bava Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Italialaisen häiriintynyt tunnelma. Tekninen toteutus melko kömpelöä. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member 'Rabid Dogs' is a raw and gritty heist-gone-wrong thriller that only Mario Bava could have made. It's an intimate, no-frills shocker that is driven, chiefly, by some superbly unhinged performances, and it manages to keep the viewer guessing with twist after twist. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member A film produced in 1974, but not released until 1997. Interesting Italian crime thriller with cool (almost continuous) music and a great story. A robbery goes wrong and the nutty gang occupy a family car. A man, a lady and a sick kid in need of an hospital are in it and they don't appreciate the three new hikers. Looks a bit simple or even amaturish made but it's quite charming. The tensity is almost constant and new elements are brought to the story as it adds suspence. We even get a neat twist here. Not perfect, but an overlooked film. Gritty but realistic. 6.5 out of 10 paninis. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Relentless and gritty. This is a film that works because of how focused its vision is. It's cynical and knows it and doesn't apologize for it. Its well made. It's also hammy at times, some of the performances are distractingly over the top and the voice over work is atrocious, as a lot low budget Italian cinema is in that area, but it's an effective, fast paced thriller with a great ending.
