Critics Consensus

Despite the best efforts of a talented cast, Race to Witch Mountain is a tepid reboot that lacks the magic of the original.

Daniel B Lacks 100% of the charm of the original films. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/13/24 Full Review thiago s Filme bacaninha, para mim quando o the rock começou a falar com a mulher no evento, o filme começou a ficar chato, parece que a ação do filme ficou fraca depois disso, de resto ficou bacaninha Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/30/24 Full Review Jerod S The reboot is better than the original to me, even though the CG could've been a lot better for 2009. The Rock is the alien friendly cab driver. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/05/24 Full Review Audience Member 15 years old and this is essentially a reboot of the franchise. There are updated special effects and action but the whole affair feels like an empty experience. Anna Sophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig play two children just like the older movie; two extra terrestrials land on Earth in search of a science experiment that will save their dying world. But their population is split on the matter…one half wants a scientific solution to bring breathable atmosphere back and the other created a bounty hunter to eliminate them both. If both children fail or the assailant kills them both then Earth faces an invasion with them taking over. They run into a cab driver Jack Bruno with a record and a female scientist specializing in UFOS. They are both of course stunned by the discovery these kids are aliens given they have telepathy and able to move objects with their minds. All the while government is hunting them down viewing them as a threat. The original movie is a bonafide classic, I watched it several times as a kid. This one slightly changes things up but it does feel very hollow in the end. The film should’ve been in 3D cause certain set pieces stand out. Dwayne Johnson and Carla Gugino make a good team even if they’re not written to the best degree. There’s an odd cameo by Gary Marshall, too. But this serves as a decent time killer for the family. Plus the child actors are the best parts given they show human emotion but also high intelligence from beyond the stars. Nothing very special but passes the time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Eye C The 1975 moving objects effects were more believable than this made in 2009, but the worse is that it's just boring. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/09/23 Full Review Shay C It's not bad, but not really worth your time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
