Kevin L There are signs in this early work of the skillful filmmaking to come from the mind of the brilliant writer/director Asghar Farhadi in films like "About Elly" and "A Separation" . "Dancing In the Dust" is rough around the edges with its low budget production values and cinematography. But already we sense the depth of human experience and relatable characters, even within a very different culture and belief system, from most of us. Farhadi's compassion for his characters and his reflecting of the good and the tragic of his homeland is forefront. Good performances as well. I love the touch of Nazar using the loose thread from Rayhaneh's hijab/headscarf as a 'belt' for his loose wedding ring. 3 stars Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/13/23 Full Review david l Dancing in the Dust was the directorial debut of Asghar Farhadi, and as such it showed a lot of his signature directorial style from the very beginning. It's a social drama that benefits from strong acting, directing and cinematography. However, the repetitive nature of its second act, a serviceable storyline and a very unlikable protagonist held this movie back at the end of the day.
