Kim Newman Electric Sheep Abyss-type soap-opera scientists alternate shouting at each other with heartfelt character dollops about children or hobbies which are supposed to make us upset when they die. Dec 1, 2017 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com it's a lot like Deep Blue Sea and The Abyss, minus the camp value and special effects, respectively Rated: 1.5/5 Jul 16, 2005 Full Review Scott Weinberg DVDTalk.com C'mon, I bet it's been at least a month since you've seen a movie about ravenous sharks turned loco by the appearance of a radioactive alien space nugget from beyond Mars. Audience Member The worst shark-hunting movie ever, too graphic (even for ages 17+)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member It gets kind of crazy, with sharks, aliens, and government psychopaths. Slow moving plot, underdeveloped characters, and few shark scenes throughout. The kill scenes are playfully edited, and honestly work well, but they're not enough to save the film but its overdrawn third act. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member OMG, this was so horrible it actually got me laughing...a lot. Where to begin on this turd. The shark footage was awful. And I read that they stole it from other B-Movie shark films. And the effects, minus the Aliens...yes Aliens, is really fake looking for the most part. You can flatly see the underwater stuff is mostly done with miniatures. The acting...is pretty bad. Just when it can't get any worse, a nutbag is brought on board and starts going crazy shooting everyone. 'Parker Lewis' is pretty awful in his over acting, but Vanessa Angel is trying...her dialogue is just rotten. The plot is pretty much man eating sharks everywhere, so every few minutes someone decides to go out in the water, Angel screams GET OUT and the sharks eat them. Angel must say GET OUT 50 times. And the whole opening is totally ripped off of NIGHT OF THE CREEPS. Yes it's super awful, but it has killer sharks and Aliens...so it was awesomely awful! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member So there's aliens, crazy sharks and that guy who replaced Michael Shanks in Season 7 of Stargate SG-1. A classic this ain't. Yet despite that it's strangely entertaining, provided you watch it with a group of other people. Kudos to the effects team for using scale models rather than CGI (probably because it was cheaper). Funny moments include: everyone wanting to swimsuit up and head out to face the sharks; the fact the whole thing was caused by aliens; the excessive use of stock footage where sharks are seen eating things (offscreen); that chap from Stargate with a strange chin beard; the mysterious accent of the guy who we think is supposed to be Irish but skips between about 8 different accents; the Russian stereotype; the fact you can only tell the female characters apart by the colour of their jacket; the melted face of at least one of the women resembles that of the melty face woman from Shark Attack 3; the strange CIA-type guy who's definitely NOT a CIA-type agent. Because he said so. The scary thing is, there's much, much more. Actually, on the face of that list, it's a fantastic film. Go watch it with a group of friends. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member It's really hard to discount a movie that has aliens playing a part as to why the sharks are raging in the first place. Plus the sharks growl and roar like tigers. Good stuff. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member There's some poor acting and some passable acting, but the main point to make about this movie is the misleading title, it's much more about why the sharks are raging, the result is a standard action movie.
