When a band of Confederate servicemen escapes from a Union stockade, they make their way to the safe haven of Canada, but have no intention of living out their remaining days in peace. Led by Maj. Neal Benton (Van Heflin), the fugitives plan to raid a small town in Vermont as payback for the North's destruction of the South. Performing reconnaissance, Benton becomes familiar with the town's layout, and also develops a relationship with a widow (Anne Bancroft) and her son (Tommy Rettig).

steve p An excellent movie with superb acting Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review James G I like the movie it great Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Audience Member Van Heflin is a confederate officer disguised as a businessman, who is planning to raid the town of St. Albans, near the Canadian border... Will his mission make him betray the people that love him?--This is a true story...it began on the night of September 26 1864, in a Union prison stockade at Plattsburgh, New York. A good film that moves along at a pleasing rate, helped by a good cast, including a young Lee Marvin, an equally-young Richard Boone before his face became lined (but he still plays a troubled person) and the distinctive John Dierkes.... With a rebel yell, I cried more more more!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member A rare action film that manages to be more than just popcorn entertainment. The Raid is non-stop brutality, with some of the most viscerally thrilling fight sequences seen in years. There's even a hint of substance, but with a concise runtime, it's hardly needed as the action doesn't have time to over stay its welcome. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Man this was one great action movie. Good acting, story and entertainment. The martial arts in was superb. A very good watch for some good action/martial arts. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
