When Tony Kent's (Kenneth More) wife is forced to travel to Canada, Tony must look after their three children and one rowdy dog. Their family home, a remodeled windmill in England, is the site of Tony's many haphazard attempts at childcare. From cooking for the children to settling their feud with some American children, it becomes clear Tony has bitten off more than he can chew. The plot thickens when a next-door neighbor develops romantic feelings for the struggling father.
