Audience Member Mikko Virtanen (Jonas Karlsson) hate everything that is Finnish. He has since his childhood wanted to leave the great silence, the sauna, knifefights and "Koskenkorva" for an Average Joe lifestyle, the Swedish insurance agency, refrigeratorcold sour milk and ABBA. On the ferry from Finland to Sweden, Mikko encounter the Swedish psychologist Michael (Erik Johansson), who has grown tired of the whole Swedish "fucking ordinariness of life." On deck the two come to a life-critical agreement; Mikko will take over Michael's identity and finally become homegrown Swedish. Now he just needs to get to know his new Swedish family... Based on the finnish book by Miika Nousiainen we get a very blend black social satire exploring Finnish and Swedish stereotypes at first, but ends up like a classic Swedish romcom with nothing new under the sun. The satirical ideas gets lost and everything becomes based on Mikko´s desperate slip on a banana peel sort of way of not exposing his real identity. Mikko is more or less portrayed like a challenged man-child that seem to have lived in his Swedish bubble most parts of his life. The lovely Josephine Bornebusch who plays the "tough" Maria is a bit out of her water and she doesn´t manage to convince you of her character. Normally she has a bit better balance to her acting then here. The quite solid actor Jonas Karlsson as Mikko is in my opinion not on spot at all here. The depth of his character is not really fleshed out and his actions makes not much sense either. The result becomes a mish mash of genres which sinks the film as the identity gets lost.
