Stephen C LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 24 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/19/22 Full Review Audience Member The message of success corrupting ones personality is definitely an edgy premise for a DCOM. While the Panabakers performances is exceptional. The pacing and lack of consequence really undercuts the values of the message that is being told. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review jon c The first DCOM starring siblings Danielle and Kay Panabaker. A movie that teaches us unintentional success is cool but it can control everything else if you lose sight of your own material. Jamie is a writer in high school wanting the cute popular guy with the cruel clique girl, has two activist buddies, and the friend who's liked her for so long but never had the courage to ask her out. She writes a majority of her happenings in her private journal wishing she could do more to be noticed while also describing the hardship of the social ladder. One night she accidentally emails her private writings to the school paper and everyone reads it. It's a big hit but not a single person knows it's all about them. Jamie's character Is also takes the form of an imaginary persona. Is guides her to strive towards success and fame but unfortunately for Jamie it nearly costs her friendships as well as her sight of what matters. The title truly applies to reading what's actually in front of you then almost breaking down afraid to not being able to appreciate some normality. Being a successful author is an honor but you're own creation can make you ignore just being a teenager. I love the movies fast pace, the chemistry between Danielle and Kay, and the main song. The lyrics really ask us what it's really like not knowing what it is like on the outside of the crowd, feeling left out, and trying to be your own friend. Another one of my favorite Disney Channel original movies that'll teach any aspiring authors it's okay to not be on top of your game right away and write about what's important to yourself not what you hate. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It's mistakes like the Jamie's in the middle of the movie that make me feel like a genius in comparison. Laura Fries Variety The ultimate moral is to stay true to oneself, but that message feels diluted here, considering the subtext.
