Terry Richmond enters the town of Shelby Springs on a simple but urgent mission-- post bail for his cousin and save him from imminent danger. But when Terry’s life’s savings is unjustly seized by law-enforcement, he’s forced to go head to head with local police chief Sandy Burnne and his combat-ready officers. Terry finds an unlikely ally in court clerk Summer McBride and the two become ensnared in a deep-rooted conspiracy within the remote township. As the stakes turn deadly, Terry must call upon his mysterious background to break the department’s hold on the community, bring justice to his own family-- and protect Summer in the process.

Gets itself a little tangled up in its ‘ non-violent’ stance, and doesn’t know where to go from there. The movie is too long and repetitive ie they didn’t need to drug the female protagonist again to make the point. The ending lacked impact as well. I’m assuming the State Police got involved and/or some of the sheriff’s guys saw the error of their ways? Like a lot of movies like this they spend so much time building up the story that they give the resolution/reasons for inadequate attention.

While cliched and sometimes not fully capitalizing from its ideas and its character motivations, Rebel Ridge is actually a good, well-crafted Netflix action thriller that solidly builds on its conflict and themes while delivering some suspenseful action and a strong performance by lead Aaron Pierre.

The first 30 minutes of the movie were great, just like every other Netflix movie. It's enough to suck you in, but good God the last hour and a half is a waste of time. The plot is so thin, and the characters do absolutely nothing that makes sense. It has such a good tee-up to really put it on par with a Reacher movie, but it tripped flat on it's face after the first step. Netflix used to put out good content, but then someone wanted profit and it shows.
