Vineeta If you love shows like The Office, Modern Family, and What We Do In The Shadows, this is a similar take on cults. Some great laughs here. I didn't even know this new age remix version of Hinduism existed in California, much less, there were cults around it. And I thought our babas and gurus were the worst. These foreign gurus are scamming on the next level. That being said, some of the self help exercises this guy makes them do are so dam hilarious. Crazy! An absolute wild ride. And it does a great job at explaining cult programming. In a way this really was a documentary to break it all down. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Lena C Discovered this little gem on Tubi. Lots of familiar faces, funny moments and interesting story. This probably would have been a blockbuster if the main actors were bigger names. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This film made me laugh because the characters are so quirky! This is a fun watch, and I highly recommend it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member As soon as I saw the film had Mockumentary veterans David Koechner and Ed Begley Jr I was in... but I never expected such good performances from the celebs playing themselves, like Johnny Bananas, Corinne Olympios and especially JaRule. The brothers (Lipper and Price) had good chemistry keeping the story together. Chaz Bono was surprisingly good. And Lindsey Shaw was a standout as Masey. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member I love Christopher Guest films and this seems like an edgier take on the mockumentary gig. The film basically follows the development of a fake self help group as they lure unsuspecting, yet needy folks (including celebrities) into joining and make them participate in inane activities to help them reboot and grow. enjoyed it more than i should. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a clever movie about a documentary within a documentary. It's got a big cast of actors that I recognize like Anchorman's David Koechner and Chaz Bono from American Horror Story and older actors like Eric Roberts and Ed Begley Jr. who, by the way, don't look bad for their age at all. The trailer led me to believe that this was a broad over the top type of comedy like Ace Ventura Pet Detective but the acting is more low key even though some of the guru's exercises are really stupid. It's got a lot of funny moments and some great lines. One of my favorites is when Ed Begley and his wife are sitting on the sofa at the end of the movie. I don't want to write any spoilers so you'll have to watch it for yourself to find out what I mean. What I really didn't like about the movie, which has nothing to do with the acting or story, was the camera movements. I'm not a fan of that style and never will be. It's annoying and I don't understand why so many movies are shot that way. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
