Synopsis
In 1959, documentarian Irene Lusztig's grandparents, Monica and Gugu Sevianu, are arrested after a botched bank heist. Sentenced by the Romanian government to life in prison, the couple are cast as themselves three years later in an anti-Semitic propaganda film that recreates their crime. In 1999, Lusztig arrives in Bucharest to investigate the true story behind the robbery and to help her mother come to terms with her traumatic childhood without parents.
