Prima ballerina Dominika Egorova faces a bleak and uncertain future after she suffers an injury that ends her career. I enjoyed it a lot. Apparantly some people find the story convoluted, but I think they are just not used anymore to spy stories with a smart plot. Gotten too much used to a lot of running and shooting and jumping off roofs. I certainly was not surprised by the ending. Made sense to me.

The ending made the intelligence community seem not so intelligent. It was like a comedian trying to tell a 3 part joke with a great setup and a fantastic punchline but somehow messes up the build up thereby making the joke come out somewhat flat and JL’s stellar performance couldn’t make up for that.

This feels like it was written by a few writers who didn't each get to see the entire script. The plot constantly derailed itself, and whilst Jennifer is stunning throughout, even she couldn't carry this one. Not deep enough, and yet way too drawn out in parts, and thoroughly nonsensical.

this is a challenging and compelling thriller. there are many twists and turns; even having watched it three times, i'm still not sure i could tell the entire story. i'm sure some people found it confusing, but jennifer lawrence is wonderful, as is jeremy irons and joel edgerton. an excellent nuanced thriller.
