nick s The acting was distracting at times. The actors reacted based on cues. However this is early on in the development of cinema so it's perhaps forgivable. The story also started to wobble as it went along. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Audience Member Assembly line drama that gets more ridiculous as it goes along. Very early Shirley Temple flick, she is NOT the Red-Haired Alibi of the title, she's precious but for one of the few times in her career not entirely relaxed on screen. It's not surprising considering she had just turned four but she was always so effortlessly natural on screen it's a bit odd to see her obviously waiting for her cue at times. She's only in the film for about 5 or 6 minutes tops. As for the rest of the film it's the standard tale of a naive girl who gets in over her head with a gangster who she doesn't realize is leading her astray and then is trapped when she tries to break free. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Some VERY bad acting. But also Merna Kennedy, who will be from now on, one of my favourite actresses. For me, a very delightful watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member 62% "From what I know about women, they never know what they're doing...Women are to emotional, you can't trust them."-Trent Traver (Theodore von Eltz) Shirley Temple's first film and doesn't become a singing and dancing puppet until later in her career.
