Stephen Romei The Australian ...this is a memorable experience and Sullivan is a filmmaker to watch. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 12, 2019 Full Review Alexandra Heller-Nicholas AWFJ.org Watching Houbolt in this film is simply a gift, and filmmakers - not just in Australia, but around the world - should take Sullivan's lead and continue to create roles of this depth, diversity and value for actors of this caliber. Jun 12, 2019 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald In the end, the film seems as manipulative as the corrosive bond that it's out to dissect. Rated: 3/5 Mar 7, 2019 Full Review Sarah Ward ArtsHub Sullivan's approach is bold, ambitious and primed to make an impact; however it's Houbolt and Queere's performances that ensures the film hits home. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 12, 2019 Full Review Cain Noble-Davies FILMINK (Australia) Reflections In The Dust lacks the immediate and quite visceral impact of Luke Sullivan's previous work, but it still shows him taking a tremendous risk in how he bends the rules of storytelling to fit his vision. Logan D A blind girl living in a wasteland survives alongside her abusive father, a clown. Very impressive low budget film from down under. Sullivan has a keen eye for surreal images and both the lead actors impress. This film demonstrates you don't need a huge scope or special effects to create good sci-fi. Trivia: I discovered this film while seeking info on Houbolt after her brief appearance in Three Thousand Years of Longing. Houbolt is also a Paralympic swimmer and aerial performer. She was born with Hallermann-Streiff syndrome which affects her bone structure, hair growth, and height. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
