Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review arvind s Jofin T Chacko's sophomore venture as director enlists red-hot Asif Ali in a role that he can play in his sleep: a cop. Set in 2024, a video confession leads the police to uncover the remains of a dead body from almost 40 years back. Vinod, a cop who has been posted to the very area is tasked with the case that threatens to unleash secrets from 4 decades ago. Crime Thrillers and Asif Ali are a match made in heaven. Kishkindha Kaandam, Thalavan & Kooman collectively prove my case. Rekhachithram is another 🪶 in the 'Malayalam Film Industry's' cap. Though it may not be the most taut of thrillers, it is still a brilliant piece of work. With the case investigation, there are frequent flashbacks to the 80s, onto the sets of the Mammootty-Bharathan movie, Kaathodu Kaathoram. A lot of work has gone into making this film and that needs to be appreciated. The casting is spot-on, given many characters appear in the past and present points of narration in the movie. Asif Ali excels yet again in a role that is altogether familiar for him. The way he keeps his character in check (the body language) is superb. Anaswara Rajan returns to a role that showcases her talent. And that guest appearance in the 2nd half stole the show. I loved that brief appearance and the effect it had. Manoj K Jayan, Harisree Ashokan, Indrans, Sai Kumar co-star. The only concern I had with Rekhachithram is the duration. It did feel longer than it actually was. But I am willing to overlook that. I end this with something I have to point out: Anaswara & Mammootty feature in a crime thriller laden with flashbacks for the second time in as many years. # Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
