Relax, I'm From the Future is the feature debut of writer/director Luke Higginson, and is based on his TIFF-featured 2013 short film of the same name. Self-described as a "dirtbag time travel comedy", Relax stars the comedic absurdist genius, Rhys Darby. Darby leads as the stuck-in-the-past protagonist but in this case, his "past" is present-day Toronto.

Nick Allen RogerEbert.com A sci-fi comedy with a modest sense of humor but tangled message to share with humankind. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 22, 2023 Full Review Alistair Lawrence Common Sense Media Almost a slacker movie at heart, Relax, I'm from the Future does make an effort to utilize Casper's future-world wisdom to point out more than just the results of major sporting events. Apr 23, 2024 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Relax, I’m From the Future fares best in its appealing, oddball opening stretch... Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 14, 2023 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse A quickly paced slice of silly speculative fiction buoyed by the energetically off-kilter comedy stylings of Rhys Darby. He’s an edgy Mork from Ork, an otherworldly being, charmingly childlike but not above doing the drugs Holly offers him. Rated: 3/5 Oct 5, 2023 Full Review John Kirk Original Cin Not so much a sci-fi story as an absurdist’s approach to the whole paradoxical nature of the concept of time travel. It’s a film that gives us permission to say, ‘To hell with it all’ and just accept the story instead of dwelling on it. Rated: B+ Oct 4, 2023 Full Review Anthony Greene Spectrum Culture By the time the film drags to its conclusion, the frenetic anything-goes energy of its first act is long forgotten and the only way to get that good feeling back is to travel back to the beginning. Steven M I'm not even halfway through, and I can see this as a really great streaming series. A really great way to build a bigger story, and I know I'm gonna want more of these characters Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/09/24 Full Review tony f No climax, just 90 minutes of people hanging out. Pass on it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/04/24 Full Review Seth B Must be fake reviews because this movie sucked tremendously. Zero laughs. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/24 Full Review Bryan B Instead of sending a really smart person back in time what if they sent a idiot who just wanted to make some money. Relax answers that question!! It's worth the watch for a few chuckles. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/24 Full Review Marcel H This movie had me cracking up. I loved it. It was hilarious! Especially just a bit later in the film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Shannon L Weird one I found on Hoopla! Feels like someone's passion project. Fun little take on time-travel (what *would* it be like for the average joe instead of an action hero... and what if they had *reasons*) with characters you both love and want to repeatedly shake.
