A quaintly uncomplicated romance that struggles to keep up with the quality of its acting. Go to Full Review

Wintry symbolism has never felt so forced -- and in a film that ought to have been played as a romantic comedy, it's never been more out of place, either. Go to Full Review

The tiresome zaniness and Seinfeldian conceits might be forgivable if the romantic plot weren't so full of empty truisms and nonsense lines that would stump a Zen monk. Go to Full Review

03/11/2013 This is a beautiful story and I loved the ending. See more 12/02/2012 Quite a nice film, despite the porno music in love scenes and the Bollywood between scene music. I enjoyed the many views on love, from many generations. See more 01/27/2012 Deepa Mehta has a good reputation for art house type movies set in India. This movie, based on a well-known novel by Carol Shields, was Mehta's big chance to show she can do a North American style romantic comedy (she wrote and directed it). The answer's in: she can't. Back to India, Deepa. See more 10/29/2011 Um, how have I never heard of this movie?? Admittedly some of the visuals were WAY over-the-top, but overall, I found this to be one of the best modern love stories I've seen. Though the characters meet in a very star-crossed way, their love is mature and very realistic. The couple's chemistry was palpable and believable, and Greenwood in particular delivered a great performance. See more 02/20/2011 Your standard issue lonely people meet and sparks fly movie, the kind one watches with ice cream (women) or booze (men). For what it is it is a well done movie. Emilia Fox is gorgeous (well my kind of gorgeous woman at least), the film works very well with Toronto as the back drop. Glad I picked it up in the library, a nice harmless (in a good way) movie to watch. See more 11/13/2010 way to spend lazy sunday morning (snowing outside, stuck in a downtown-high-rise). script was good, but screenplay was so so. really, who has conquered "the fear of disenchantment"? time to get lunch, hit the gym & get back to a more boring subject, (information technology) homework for monday!
