      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Though its story is second-rate, The Rescuers Down Under redeems itself with some remarkable production values -- particularly its flight scenes.

Noe G The rescuers down under is my most favorite Disney film. I give this movie. A 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review Audience Member Very cool animation and good story Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review C Z In my opinion, one of the 2 best Disney animated films of all time. The other being "The Great Mouse Detective". Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Seven E Absolutely gorgeous animation, loveable characters, very entertaining. John Candy's Wilbur was a delight, as expected, and the villain is a proper dark Disney villain with nothing sympathetic about them that we need to see more of these days. This movie was part of Disney's renaissance for a reason, and deserves to be treasured as one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review Clay G To much act 1 and barely enough act 2. But still a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review T. H Not aged all that well. Pretty dumb, but good for kids. Beth Dunlop Miami Herald Newhart and Gabor are truly delightful as Bernard and Miss Bianca. The characters are tailored to their particular comedic talents, so The Rescuers Down Under has a wry edge to it. John Candy has his funny moments as well. Rated: 3/4 Aug 18, 2021 Full Review Empire Magazine The Rescuers' identification/memorableness factor remains second division. Rated: 2/5 Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Variety Staff Variety This sort-of sequel to the 1977 hit The Rescuers boasts reasonably solid production values and fine character voices. Too bad they're set against such a mediocre story that adults may duck. Mar 26, 2009 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn While the film might not be perfect, it does feel like The Rescuers Down Under is one of the more well-rounded and deserving Disney features that gets overlooked and discredited all too often. Dec 31, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The overall story is less poignant than in the previous film, but the main characters still have charm and several new supporting roles are undeniably creative. Rated: 6/10 Sep 24, 2020 Full Review Rachel Wagner rachelsreviews.net They were clearly going for an Indiana Jones vibe with Rescuers Down Under and in every way they succeeded.
