Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed The last very good entry in the "Puppet Master" movie series, and I hope we get this dark fantasy element back someday. Jan 14, 2017 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Rated: 2/5 Aug 1, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

Jens B The lack of budget and, above all, the low age rating severely limit this, in principle, quite interesting puppet prequel. At the same time, I'm still impressed by David DeCoteau's ability to shoot several films in a row for $100 with a foreign-language crew and amateur actors, and still manage to make them halfway watchable. The seventh (or six and a half?) installment in the series returns to André Toulon's past as a young vaudeville artist. Greg Sestero can be admired this time under DeCoteau's camera and does a decent job considering the thin script. The proto-puppets work well for the budget, and the villains work too. IF you like Full Moon movies of this ilk. Connoisseurs of the subgenre know: You have to wait for the good scenes, the pace of the films is like a glacier, and the set design could easily be used for some cheap porn. You have to like it... But if you do, you get a bit of value for your money: - The best doctor in the world ("If he wakes up in the next hour, he should be covered. If he doesn't, he probably won't at all.") - Sestero's GREAT French accent (apparently, he's fluent in French?!) - Romanian supporting actors attempt English dialogue - Erotic attraction between the male actors - Some nice puppet effects The absence of the well-known musical theme, however, ensures that you never really get that Puppet Master vibe. Unfortunately, the puppets are only allowed to hack at dusty mummies – there's no blood to be seen here. As already mentioned, it takes forever for anything to happen; the puppets only come to life three-quarters of the way through the film. All in all, a film featuring puppets that eventually do things. The question remains: why is the finale on the train filmed as if it were taking place in rough seas? I got a little seasick... Theres cool stuff and a very interesting storyline with the retro puppets. There are so many errors and over sites for example old Toulon is an english gentleman, the young one is french, and in most of the franchise Toulon is german. The actual history from the franchise is COMPLETLY different. The acting talent in this movie is almost non existent. The audio feels more like a cartoon voice over. I have watched all the Puppet Master movies and this is one of the worst ones i have seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/07/23 Full Review R P Retro Puppet Master is a prequel to 3. It tells us about a young Toulon who becomes the next Puppet Master and meets the love of his life Ilsa. For the seventh installment in this franchise I found it all right. Not the best and we still are not even to the horrible ones yet. (foreverfinalgirl.com/retro-puppet-master/) Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/22 Full Review Read all reviews
