When widow Sarah Hargrave (Lisa Pelikan) washes ashore on a tropical island with her daughter and adopted son, she learns how to survive and raise the two children on her own. After her death, the kids -- Lilli (Milla Jovovich) and Richard (Brian Krause) -- are forced to continue their uncivilized lives without any parental guidance, and, as they enter young adulthood, they begin to fall in love. Their Eden-like existence is threatened, however, when outsiders arrive on the island.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite its lush tropical scenery and attractive leads, Return to the Blue Lagoon is as ridiculous as its predecessor, and lacks the prurience and unintentional laughs that might make it a guilty pleasure.

Miranda Sawyer Empire Magazine Graham paints a picture of love that is tediously sexist. One for pervs and frustrated holidaymakers only. Rated: 2/5 May 21, 2013 Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times The travelogue-style photography is soothing, the bodies are pretty and the music isn't offensive, but feature-length movies can't survive on the ingredients for a standard airline commercial. Rated: 1/4 May 21, 2013 Full Review Jay Boyar Orlando Sentinel Things are pretty much the same for the semi-nude kids in this movie as they were for the semi-nude kids in the first Blue Lagoon. Rated: 2/10 Sep 24, 2020 Full Review Jo Berry Radio Times A textbook example of a disaster that amazingly manages not only to contain bad acting and an appalling script, but also some of the most unconvincing love scenes ever committed to film. meeting_meghan I actually really enjoy this movie, more than the original to be honest. It has some odd points, but I think the relationship, not just between Lilli and Richard but each of their relationships with Sarah before she passed were shown well. I don't like Sylvia or the first mate as both were on the creepy side, but I understand why they acted the way they did. I love the ending to this film and the happiness Lilli, Richard & baby found in their little paradise. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/08/22 Full Review Audience Member uhhhhhh..... What is this? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Otvio F It's just as bad as its predecessor, only worse. Continuação desnecessária, cópia do antecessor e roteiro horroroso Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Aunque tiene una historia muy simple, no es tan mala como dicen y se puede disfrutar.
