Slick R Extremely unbelievable. No human being could lose that much blood with a huge gaping hole through their abdomen. Why wasn't she bleeding from the hole in her back? Same director as The Substance so the camera effects are very similar after she takes some drugs. The director literally tried to make a girl with zero survival experience and zero gun experience transform into Barbie Rambo. So dumb. It could have been so much better if they cast a girl who was believable as a bad ass. There are a few in mind but the problem I think the casting had was they forced her to be a white girl. It would have been believable if the girl was Mexican or Brazilian or even Asian. Not some white valley girl from LA. Every shot meticulously perfect. This being Coralie’s first feature film is astonishing, she has the storytelling and film making capability of a director with 100x her experience. Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Carlos H I know that the whole world got to know Coralie Fargeat through the excellent The Substance, but, particularly after watching the film Revenge, I dare say that such recognition should have come in 2017, with the release of this film. It has many of the characteristics seen in The Substance; Coralie has a unique way of filming her scenes and telling her stories, and it is amazing that this was her first feature film. Her direction is precise and impeccable, highlighting, as in The Substance, the grotesque side of the male characters. Here, we are introduced to Jen, a call girl played by the excellent Matilda Lutz (a beautiful and talented actress that I had never met), who is invited by her lover to spend a few days at his house in the desert. The man, played by the excellent (and sensual, by the way) Kevin Janssens, at first, despite his infidelity, seems to be a kind and caring man, but his mask falls after the shocking scene in which Jen is abused by one of her hunting buddies. From then on, a brutal hunt begins, with blood and graphic content even stronger than in The Substance. The scene in which, in focus, we see an ant being hit by drops of blood that fall from Jen's suspended body is a masterclass in how to tell a story; we see all of Coralie's talent printed in the film. And I loved the scene in which Jen tends to her wound, using one of the tabs from the beer can she found in the backpack she stole from one of her tormentors, because the phoenix that was in it was imprinted on her belly: an allegory of what she would become from that point on: a phoenix, resurrected from the ashes. Jen becomes a warrior, fighting hard for her own life, worthy of a heroine. The final confrontation between Jen and Richard is full of tension and anticipation, and the ending does not disappoint. The Substance was one of my favorite films of 2024 and is on my list of all-time favorites. With Revenge, Coralie Fargeat established herself as one of the best directors working today. Revenge is a great film that is worth watching! It was so ridiculous, pure garbage. I can't understand how people actually thought this movie was good. The acting was horrible, the injuries the main character sustained would of killed her straight out the gate, the way a shotgun was making rifle distance shots, pure garbage.
