Audience Member The Chinese "Amadeus," without all the silly insanity or double-edged symbols and perverse laughs. The heartwarming story of a talented composer who spends many years in the countryside in order to create a new musical style, but must endure many difficult hardships, while maintaining a family and challenging the status quo. Contains part of the original score of "Hua Mulan," the Chinese opera that Disney loosely based their film on. A fantastic family film and a triumphant story of a man who suffers for his art and emerges victorious while keeping to his convictions. A bit softhearted in regards to life during the Cultural Revolution, though not to the point of propaganda. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
