Pauline Kael New Yorker It’s very smoothly put together, but in a meaningless way -- you don’t feel that you’re experiencing Pryor’s rhythms. Sep 12, 2023 Full Review Dwight Brown Sepia Richard Pryor has risen from the ashes, and he’s back, black and better than ever! Aug 10, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy There's no shortage of keeper sequences in this one. Rated: 2/5 May 16, 2006 Full Review Widgett Walls Needcoffee.com There's no features to the disc, so you're left with what this seems to be: namely, the dregs out of Pryor's performance library. KilznaH 46 One of the all time best stand up comedy shows ever. Especially after a breakup. He wouldn't have seen a 747 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/23 Full Review Audience Member The late Richard Pryor was one of the biggest comedians in show business Mainly he was known for his stand up routines delivering laughs whether it was on stage or tv or on film In this presentation Pryor is at the Hollywood Palladium after a publicized battle he had with drugs This takes an opportunity for him to tell venerable stories about his past--particularly a trip to Africa changing his life The outrageous jokes are more adult oriented but that's what makes Pryor's brand of humor appeal to many Plus the commentary his jokes touch upon from prison, mobsters, hospitals and cocaine The movie is watching Pryor a majority on stage so if you're not into the one-shot comedy stylings then this isn't for you But any fans of the late comedian will appreciate his foul-mouthed act of humor Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review uncle p Story/Screenplay: (2.5/5) Not Pryor's best. A few laughs, especially towards the end, but generally not as entertaining as some of his other works. Duration/Tempo: (3/5) At 1 hour and 22 minutes, it's a very, very short movie that felt longer, but it was still short. Cast & Crew: (2.5/5) Richard Pryor was OK, but was not good enough to be good. Summary: (2.5/5) The story and cast were mediocre, and the film was short but felt longer. A thumbs down. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Pryor occasionally drops philosophical during this concert performance in 1982, particularly when recounting his experiences in Africa. The highlight is definitely his ability to find humor in telling the story of how he incinerated himself when freebasing coke and paints a scary/funny picture of the devilish power of addiction. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Pryor is one of the best comedians of all time! He really connects with the audience by sharing his life experiences and being able to make jokes about them. May he rest in peace! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member very funny made me laugh a lot Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
