      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Ricky Stanicky gets some big laughs thanks to John Cena's up-for-anything performance, but they aren't enough to support the movie's thin plot and excessive runtime.

      Audience Consensus

Ricky Stanicky's cheesy lowbrow laughs are a perfect match for John Cena's impressive commitment to the bit.

Joshua C Well, this is a movie which exists. While some of the humour lands, not enough of it does for me to consider this a worthwhile viewing. That, and the fact that the central premise is just so implausible, not to mention unbelievably selfish for me to buy into. Certainly not Peter Farrelly's best work. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/30/24 Full Review Sam J Good to see R rated comedies again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Sean-Patrick R Really good comedy! Great laughs with a heartfelt ending. If you need an easy laugh or a fell good movie this should be a sure fire pick. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Landen B A huge disappointment, three humor was not funny and the only good part was John Cena. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Jonathan M Hilarious, light hearted, and overall, fun film. It had me laughing out loud to tears at the end. The message, by acting as the person you want to become, should resonate with those who are unhappy with their lives. Pay no attention to the bad reviews. Those reviewers lack the depth and awareness of the comedy and scope of this refreshing film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Micheal B Honestly, this movie is stupid, but I laughed more at this movie than I have at any other im recent years. If you can just shut your brain off and sit through the ride it's worth it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Robert Levin Newsday It's a good thing that this movie has been promoted as a comedy, because you wouldn't know it from watching. Rated: 0.5/4 Apr 8, 2024 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) Good comedies, of course, can make the tragic feel bittersweet, but Ricky Stanicky bungles its tone to the point that the whole affair comes across a little depressing. Rated: 2/5 Mar 12, 2024 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of a game John Cena in the title role, the laughs are a little thin on the ground. Rated: 2/5 Mar 10, 2024 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) Cena is a heat-seeking missile in a movie like this, elevating the material like LeBron James joining a D-II basketball team. Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots Squanders its promising premise and talented cast on a juvenile, raunchy, and uninspired comedy that fails to deliver enough laughs or entertainment to justify its sad existence. Apr 10, 2024 Full Review Blai Morell Fotogramas Thank you, John Cena; without you, this sample of the genre destined to disappear from theaters would have been catalog stock on some platform.
