When three childhood best friends pull a prank gone wrong, they invent the imaginary Ricky Stanicky to get them out of trouble! Twenty years after creating this 'friend,' Dean, JT, and Wes (Zac Efron, Andrew Santino, and Jermaine Fowler) still use the nonexistent Ricky as a handy alibi for their immature behavior. When their spouses and partners get suspicious and demand to finally meet the fabled Mr. Stanicky, the guilty trio decide to hire washed-up actor and raunchy celebrity impersonator "Rock Hard" Rod (John Cena) to bring him to life. But when Rod takes his role of a lifetime too far, they begin to wish they'd never invented Ricky in the first place.

Okay, this isn't your typical 'great' film. But go into it with an open mind, an unserious attitude and a childish sense of humour and it will be a great barrel of laughs. A great reminiscence on childhood life and its progression throughout adulthood.

This movie was both edgily hilarious and deep and smart. It teaches lessons in an adult movie but in a good way. Every character is likeable in their own way. It deserves at least an 89% tomato rating and a 95% audience score. I watch a lot of movies and am critical, but I never felt disenjoyement. Good exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. It has good progression and it was good at going on past where you could think it would end.

Ricky stanicky was never a movie I intended on watching until someone strongly advocated for it online. Cena is fantastic in this and I've always been a fan of Zac Efron, but this was not nearly as bad as I expected it would be. I was laughing pretty hard at times and found the humor to be something we don't get too often in movies these days. The movie was happy, light, and something worth watching. I felt like I was back in the early 2000's watching superbad or 21&over. What an adventure with a group of old childhood pals. I definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a good chuckle or two along the way.
