Filmmaker Victor Buhler focuses on three: William, a would-be hip-hop star, Andre, an artist, and class valedictorian Shawn. With the help of dedicated teachers and counselors, the students try to improve their reading levels and pass their GED tests, knowing that success inside Rikers is no guarantee of success outside.
