Blue macaws Blu (Sunny), Jewel (Im Si-wan) and their three children are comfortably settled in the city -- perhaps too comfortably. Jewel fears that the children are becoming more like humans than birds. After learning that she and Blu may not be the last blue macaws after all, Jewel decides that their little family should visit the Amazon jungle. It's there that Blu meets his formidable father-in-law and goes beak-to-beak with archnemesis Nigel (Ryu Seung-ryong).

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 4 Rio 2 is a charming and lively sequel that expands the world of the original instead of repeating it. The move into the Amazon gives the story fresh energy as Blu and Jewel set out on a heartfelt journey to reconnect with her long-lost family. The screenplay mixes sweetness, humor, and music, with Kristin Chenoweth stealing scenes as Gabi, the dramatic poisonous frog whose dynamic with Nigel is hilarious. Roberto adds another layer of comedy, especially as Blu struggles with jealousy and fitting into Jewel’s old world. The director brings back the full cast with ease while boosting the visuals with vibrant, tropical animation. Though lighter on music than the first film, the songs still add fun and rhythm. It’s a colorful, funny, and genuinely sweet adventure that feels fresh, warm, and worth watching for families and animation fans alike. See more Read all reviews
