TheMovieSearch R Rise of the Jurassic — This is a foreign film, seemingly inspired by Japanese or Chinese blockbuster-style dinosaur movies, but it quickly becomes painfully clear that the production didn’t have the budget—or perhaps the skill—to match the scale they were attempting. From the very first scene, it’s obvious that the filmmakers were reaching for epic thrills, yet the execution falls flat on nearly every level. The direction feels completely scattered, as if the filmmaker had no clear vision. Scenes jump from one chaotic set piece to the next with little cohesion, and the pacing suffers as a result. You’re constantly trying to figure out whether the film wants to be an action-packed adventure, a monster thriller, or a more serious survival story—and it fails at all three. The acting is truly atrocious. The performers deliver lines with such stiffness and lack of emotion that it becomes difficult to invest in any moment of tension or drama. Character development is nonexistent, leaving you with shallow, forgettable personalities who serve only as excuses to move the plot—or in this case, to trigger the next CGI-heavy disaster sequence. And the CGI… where do I even start? Whether characters are jumping from planes, diving into water, or running from dinosaurs, everything looks absurdly fake. The textures, movements, and interactions with the environment are so poorly rendered that it’s almost comical rather than thrilling. The dinosaurs, which should be the centerpiece of the film, are laughable. They flop across the screen like cheap animatronics, completely destroying any sense of danger or awe. The script doesn’t save the film either. It’s poorly written, meandering, and riddled with clichés. Dialogue is awkward and exposition-heavy, leaving the story feeling more like a rough draft than a completed screenplay. Motivations are unclear, plot points vanish into thin air, and there’s no narrative tension to keep the audience engaged. In the end, Rise of the Jurassic is a disaster from start to finish. Ambition without execution is a dangerous combination, and here it results in a film that is frustrating, boring, and unintentionally hilarious. For anyone looking for thrilling dinosaur action or a cohesive adventure, this is not the movie to watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/25 Full Review Read all reviews
