Eddie Cockrell The Australian So while the subjects explored in Rising from Ashes are worthy of contemplation, the methodology of doing so puts the brakes on the film's ability to inspire and persuade. Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 25, 2014 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald The film is beautifully put together, with slick editing and glossy photography. The beauty of Rwanda is astonishing. Rated: 4/5 Jun 19, 2014 Full Review Tom Keogh Seattle Times Essentially a sports documentary with the look and feel of an ESPN program, "Rising from Ashes" nevertheless has broad, inspirational appeal on a human level. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 12, 2013 Full Review David 'Mad Dog' Bradley Adelaide Review TC Johnstone's cycling documentary might sound at first like just another sport movie trying hard to seem inspirational, yet this study of the story behind 'Team Rwanda' is indeed just that. Aug 10, 2016 Full Review Francesca Rudkin New Zealand Herald It's hard not to get swept up in this film's sense of hope. Rated: 4/5 May 17, 2016 Full Review Jim Schembri 3AW Inspiring, tough-hearted documentary about the formation of the Rwandan cycling team in the wake of the 1994 genocide.
