David C The dreadful 80s synth music is the only thing that really grates. And there's one rather naff scene where everyone's running around inside an obviously plastic-scenery pyramid as doors slide open and closed around them. Raiders of the Lost Ark it ain't . And if I were the villain I'd hire some better thugs. These guys keep falling off boats, driving into harbours, and tripping over things even my mum would be able to avoid. But otherwise this is a very good film that I return to every few years. Ben Masters and Tim Curry are simply excellent, and Michel Lonsdale plays his usual lugubrious French cop with conviction and professionalism Good story. Nice atmosphere. Dialogue is good. Great locations. Entertaining car-chase with a 2CV through narrow streets. Convincing and gripping if you like this kind of adventure spy-caper. More than a nod to books of Adam Hall ( wrote Quiller series) with various references. Eg... "A wheel came off" means "Our agent got killed by the bad guys" . Not a classic but good entertainment Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/22/24 Full Review Read all reviews
