Aldo G In the hands of a director more accomplished in the Noir genre this might have become a minor gem. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting twist on the femme fatale trope. Joan Dixon's Diane resists the advances of Charles McGraw's Joe, an insurance investigator, because he doesn't meet her high standards of wealth. Eventually, she defaults on her ambitions to marry into wealth and puts in a claim to her average Joe. But, Joe wants his own insurance, fearing he may lose Diane. Ever try to cancel an insurance policy? It ain't easy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review ashley h Roadblock is a decent film. It is about an honest LA insurance detective Joe Peters who becomes corrupt after falling in love with sensual gold-digger model Diane. Charles McGraw and Joan Dixon give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Harold Daniels did an alright job directing this movie. I liked watching this motion picture because of the drama. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member more like a crime drama than film noir but he thats me not very many shadows in this tale. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member a fair to good B film noir a noir movie with a femme Fataile worth a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Gravel voiced Charles McGraw was RKO's B movie alternative to Robert Mitchum and this film not only gives him the lead but allows him to expand his range by playing the lovesick sucker. Seeing McGraw wave at Dixon like a kid with a crush, or even later when he breaks into her apartment to decorate a Christmas tree is a wonderful change of pace for the tough-guy actor. Joan Dixon is fine as the love interest but she never gets to play the full femme fatale as her charector changes halfway through the film. Roadblock is a well-paced true film noir. The fatalistic story has a few nice touches in addition to the two lead performances including a slick opening credit sequence and a decent (but generic) film score.
