What to Know

Critics Consensus

Roar may not satisfy in terms of acting, storytelling, or overall production, but the real-life danger onscreen makes it difficult to turn away.

Jason Bailey Flavorwire It can best be described as a cross between a nature special, a home movie, a snuff film, and a key exhibit at a sanity hearing. May 28, 2016 Full Review Charles Bramesco Consequence With Roar, filmmaking feels as dangerous and immediate as bomb defusing. Rated: A- May 12, 2015 Full Review Brad Wheeler Globe and Mail Good lord, look what the filmmaker dragged in. May 8, 2015 Full Review Korey Coleman Double Toasted Roar is one of those movies that you've never seen anything like and will probably never see get made again. Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Fascinating in the sense of what the film crew was able to actually accomplish, but never justifying the actual means for its existence, it's simply one of those films that has to be seen to be believed. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 20, 2020 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending One of the truly singular one-offs in all of cinema history. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 25, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

william k Nearly plotless adventure simply lines up one silly human mishap after another keeping all protagonists in a permanent stage of danger; the real stars of the show are the animals, and if you like lions, you'll see plenty of them here. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Tidge H Four stories Into this series, and I find it extremely disappointing. Goes to show that no matter what headliners you have cast in a series, it does not guarantee success. What a bummer. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/22 Full Review Audience Member I agree with the summary of RottenTomatoes for this movie. How many lions can you get into a room? Do they have the ability to go through tiny places as a cat? The movie would be more impressive if you don't think life of people was in danger most of the time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Extremely badly edited with a ridiculous storyline but totally worth a watch to see 80s actors flee giant cats, The footage captured is unbelieveable in the way the actors interact with the lions and tigers and other giant cats, if you're into whacky stuff and enjoy seeing giant cats up close on film then I highly reccomend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review delysid d this is a great film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/12/19 Full Review Audience Member Amazing movie...one of a kind...so glad I got to see it. For those who complained about the acting, dialogue and lack of story...you have no idea what you watched. Go see a fast-paced, CGI, Hollywood action movie...it will hold your attention better.
