Critics Consensus

Robin Hood robs from rich source material, but is ultimately just another poor attempt to needlessly gussy up a classic tale with amped-up action and modern special effects.

Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader It's silly stuff, so insubstantial that even after any vicarious thrills over the medieval one percent getting shafted, the viewer is likely to feel he or she is the one being fleeced. Enon T The movie was actually pretty good considering how it had a consistent storyline throughout and pretty decent plot. I'm actually upset that it has such a low rating here, because all things considered, it's a pretty good movie, however, the comparison to other movies that these actors have made along with other movies that are Robin Hood, It is definitely not as good. Being overly critical on this movie while comparing it to others is not what makes it a good movie or not, It's the actual quality of the movie. The CGI and overall dialogue could have used some work, however, it's still a pretty good movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/25/24 Full Review Laura H If you don’t like action movies and can’t get past a few cgi additions…. This movie isn’t for you. It’s not supposed to be the original Robinhood (Que the name differences) so if you can get over the differences and watch the actual movie without comparison- it’s actually really great. The cast is great & the storyline flows throughout. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review James A A very silly movie. The blend of a modern vibe with a medieval setting often pulled me out of the experience—it just felt odd. It was like combining peanut butter with a roast beef and provolone sandwich; both are great on their own, but they simply don’t belong together. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review Frederik B Outside of the legendary cartoon, this is the best Robin Hood out there. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/29/24 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed this, mostly the spectacle part: D-Day like invasion of England by a French armada, with landing boats in the 12th century that opened in the front, like the classic images from the WW II Normandy beaches landing. And, after a while, I appreciated the completely a-historical story line, including Richard dead before Robin and the gang start their hijinks in England. It forced me to pause the movie and check on the actual history of Richard. Nice visuals, acting ok. It was fun and satisfying. Ok, so the ending was obviously a set up for a sequel that never happened, but then so was “Master and Commander” and others, right? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Chris K This is the best Robin Hood story we've ever had, but one of the worst acted, worst portrayes, worst costumes, etc. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Read all reviews
