Audience Member The greatest 01 hour: and 17 minutes of real footage ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an odd film in Demme's music film ouvre as it eschews the style and big stage production of "Stop Making Sense" and "Heart of Gold" for a bare bones production that works perfectly for Robyn Hitchcock's music. There is one camera transfixed on a makeshift stage in a Manhatten store with the window and passersby as the back drop. The star of the film is Hitchcock's unique music but non-fans will enjoy the presentation as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The psycho-babble rants between songs are as good as the songs. Wish he'd picked better songs. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Robyn Hitchcock is definitely a musician off the beaten path, not necessarily as profound as some fans would have you believe, but even so this is a concert well worth looking at -- "Stop Making Sense" director Jonathan Demme sets Hitchcock in a New York City shop and alters the background between each song. The changes are fluid, and the visuals compliment the music beautifully. This is a pretty obscure video to happen across, but it's one of those ignored/forgotten treasures worth rescuing. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not a huge fan of Robyn Hitchcock (my boyfriend is) but he is a great songwriter and I like his voice. This is a simple but well done concert movie directed by Jonathan Demme. Hitchcock speeches between songs are impresive. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Robyn Hitchcock is a real treasure, and Jonathan Demme sure does know how to make music documentaries. Great combo.
