It showed that even though following your passions can be tough for you and the people you love, the support of family & good friends can overcome all shit life throws at you. While less cliche and more recent & first-hand than the VH1 variety, this feels more creepy and unnecessary for the effort. The performance and rehearsal scenes are of interest, however, as well as the sort of self-analysis and response to blind criticism on screen.
