Avec son dernier film, Guillaume Canet a peut-être réussi l'impensable : rendre Guillaume Canet cool. Rock n Roll n'est pas sans défaut. Sa deuxième heure est quasiment insupportable. Mais elle a le mérite de ne pas rester dans les sentiers battus de la satire sur le cinéma. Même s'il se plante complètement dans sa deuxième partie, Rock n Roll est époustouflant pendant une heure. Guillaume Canet y est excellent, Marion Cotillard se prend au jeu et l'humour y est dévastateur. En, délibérément, choisissant de se séparer d'une grosse partie de son public, Canet prouve qu'il a un vrai talent de mise en scène et qu'il a des choses à dire. C'est probablement le plus important. Canet n'est pas le has been décrit, il est le wannabe.

Canet deserves credit for going to such extremes - even if his conceit runs a bit long - and for taking the satire to the point of no return, rather than offering up the kind of easy reconciliation seen in most movies about the movie business.
